Ultraviolet light has been demonstrated to be capable of destroying viruses, bacteria and fungi in hundreds of laboratory studies. In particular, research has shown that light in the UV-C band (100-280nm) is especially effective at killing microbes and deactivating viruses. UV-C is already widely used to disinfect water, food and drink products and in the disinfection of laboratory equipment. The Centre for Disease Control (CDC), a global thought leader, has shown that surface illumination with the correct intensity of UV-C kills 99.99% of the COVID-19 virus.

When microorganisms are exposed to UV-C radiation the light penetrates through their cell wall and disrupts the structure of their DNA molecules prohibiting reproduction.

The result was the birth of ELIPTIG®. The patented elliptical lamp arrangement and unique rotational design of ELIPTIG® allows UV-C light to minimise shadows. Extensive and rigorous trials have proven that ELIPTIG® successfully disinfects entire rooms from floor to ceiling, killing the COVID-19 virus. When ELIPTIG® is positioned at shoulder level, the optical field configuration disinfects the surface of a desk or bed whilst also illuminating and disinfecting the ceiling. Not only does ELIPTIG® illuminate at an angle downwards towards the floor but also upwards, disinfecting underneath surfaces that may be horizontal, such as tables, chairs and stretchers.
